In the "Harry Potter" series, Robbie Coltrane portrayed the endearing half-giant Rubeus Hagrid. His agency, WME, announced his passing to Variety on Friday. He was 72.

Every "Harry Potter" film, from "Sorcerer's Stone" in 2001 through "Death Hallows -Part 2" in 2011, featured Coltrane.

He was one of the first characters to appear on screen, and he famously said, "Yer a wizard, Harry."

Radcliffe paid tribute to his time on the "Potter" set with John Coltrane. “I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,'”

The actor's final appearance with his Harry Potter family was in the 20th anniversary special "Return to Hogwarts," which aired on HBO Max in January 2022.
